The Role:


Tool Room Manager




Bishopbriggs, Glasgow


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


The efficient running of the department

Supervision of staff

Co-ordinate and monitor workload within the department

Ensure instructions are being followed and deadlines met

Communicate information to employees

Conduct employee training in processes, equipment operations or work and safety procedures

Drive/support continuous improvement

Maintain accurate records

Support design and development of new injection mould tooling

Assist in design and manufacture of cutting tools, forming tools, jigs and fixtures

Maintain mould, cutting, forming tools for production use

Support and guide external toolmakers on new tooling requests




Excellent communication skills

Good organisational and planning skills

Ability to multi-task

Be flexible, hard-working and keen to learn

Good time management skills

Process orientated

To be dynamic and energetic in approach

A strong team ethic, with a desire to contribute

Excellent eye for detail and accuracy

Good maths and drawing reading skills




Qualifications and Experience:


Served a 4-year apprenticeship

4+ years’ experience (post-apprenticeship) within tool making\manufacturing setting.

A working knowledge of Autocad and CAM systems would be beneficial.

Must be comfortable with integrating new technology into an existing business environment

Experience of injection moulding tooling and press tools would be beneficial.

A positive team-working approach and adherence to safety policies and procedures is essential.

A professional manner, good level of interpersonal and self-presentation skills are pre-requisites.

Annual Leave:


25 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays per year




Mon – Thu 08.30 – 17.00

Fri 08.30 – 14.30
